Finding The Perfect Guy….

The beauty about the perfect person is that they only exist in the minds of their creators.
Most women are pretty good at making up a list of qualities a person should have, and being surprised when they cannot find this "perfect" person. The reason is it's all in their minds.

You must truly know yourself, and be a great judge of character to find the person you want. If you need funny and the person is very good looking but dull as a cloudy day, then don't bother.  I recommend making a flexible outline of what you, not what other people think YOU need in a person to spend a lot of time with, and go with that.

Then know that their are going to be flaws with every person you meet, and decide what you will or will not accept.

He should be kind, caring, interesting, romantic, funny and loving. He should share your good times and your bad times, not judge you, trust you and love you unconditionally.

Of course you should feel all these feelings and do all these things for him too.

It helps if he's good looking, tall & slim with dark hair J

Understanding, faithfulness, sincerity, and most important...love!

A Very Special Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep

The angels watch me through the night

Until I wake in the morning light
Amen.

That is the prayer I say to my children every night before I kiss them and tuck them in to bed. There is something comforting about a simple prayer about someone watching you and protecting you through the night to keep you safe and sleep more soundly.

I love this little prayer for many reasons. As my sisters and I were growing up, my parents always made sure we said our prayers. They didn’t go to church a lot when I was small but they did make sure that they instilled the word of God into our every day lives. This prayer reminds me of my childhood, growing up with my grandparents living only steps away, 2 sisters who fought constantly but had each other’s backs when called for.

The prayer also reminds me of the 2 greatest grandmothers a girl could ask for who are now in Heaven watching over me & my family. I tell my kids that they are their angels watching over them and are always with them.

Do you have a special prayer you say to your kids?

Magic of Christmas :)

For those of you who are close to me, you know how difficult the past few months have been. It has brought me closer to my family, friends, and most importantly to God. Therefore I made a goal for myself that I would make this the best Christmas I could for everyone around me to thank you all & Him for all I have been given this holiday. Of course, I want to make Christmastime special for my kids but also to teach them what Christmas is all about.  I want my kids to know why we celebrate Christmas…. You can’t spell Christmas without putting Christ first!

A few days ago I found out about 2 girls who were taken away from their mother (reasons unknown) and put into a home with their grandmother who was barely getting by on her own. The kids were brought to her house with only the clothes on their backs from what I was told… sad yes I know! I was told about these girls as I was trying to take pictures of my 2 kids. I am a single mother and yes I experience hard times as well but I am so lucky to have a great support group and I am always looking for the opportunity to ‘pay it forward’.

After learning about these girls I quickly put on Facebook & sent texts to people in my phone saying that these girls were needing anything and I have to admit the response wasn’t what I had hoped for. I did not get a single message that day. It really bummed me out. I took my daughter into her room and went through her clothes & gathered 2 bags full to send to them. The next day when my uncle came to pick up the clothes to take to the grandmother, I still had not received a message from anyone. That afternoon I received a phone call. A very sweet young lady had went through and had a couple of bags of clothes that she is going to send. It renewed my faith that people out there did care. These little girls had nothing and all I was asking for was a shirt or two to help clothe these tiny, innocent girls. I did receive messages later from a couple other people giving me names of churches & individuals who could possibly help and I am truly grateful for this.

I know not everyone can help every single person. What is heartbreaking to me is knowing there were 2 little girls who were spending the most magical time of year without a thing. They didn’t choose this life. They didn’t choose to be taken away from their mother. I don’t know the circumstances but I know, as a parent, we determine the future for our children by the decisions we make. I can’t say that I am perfect because I know I am not. One thing will never change and that’s the fact that I will never do anything to jeopardize my kids’ futures & my life with my kids.  I am not saying their mother was on drugs, in jail, or anything else because like I said I don’t know the situation but it really upsets me to see a parent choose drugs, alcohol, another person, job, or certain liberties over their children. The ones the parent is hurting is the child & no kid deserves that. No child deserves to feel abandoned or alone or helpless. If I could dedicate my life to one thing it would be to help these children. If I can make a different in their lives then I have done right in this life. God has a plan for everyone but when the Devil steps in and takes control of a parent then other’s need to step in & help these poor kids from his wrath. I know it is difficult to step aside from our own personal demons to help someone else but have you ever felt the feeling you get after helping others?? I want to look back on my life and see that I made a positive difference… even if it’s just one person’s life that I change for the better.

I want to thank each and every person who has stood by with love, support, kindness, and generosity. It does mean the world to me.

Dogs4Diabetes

I recently came across an article about diabetes-detecting dogs. These dogs apparently have the ability to tell when a person’s blood sugar levels are getting dangerously low. Is this for real????

The article was about a non-profit organization that trains dogs for special diabetics. The organization is called Dogs4Diabetes and has been open since 2003. After a little research I found out it takes about 2 years and $20,000 to fully train one dog.

My grandmother was diagnosed with diabetes when I was young and we were extremely close so I was always around it & it’s effects. There are 2 different types of diabetes: type 1 & type 2. Sometimes a person can’t tell when their blood sugar levels are getting dangerously low until it is too late, until the dizziness overwhelms them and then it’s very hard to take control of this disease. This is what the dogs are for. The dogs can sense when the person’s levels are getting low so they can wake them, bark, or get their attention somehow.

This is remarkable! Right now science can’t figure out how these canines can do this. So my theory is not to question it… just do it. Train these dogs & help save lives!!!

If you want to check these animals out you can go to Dogs4Diabetes website: www.dogs4diabetes.com

Sports :)

Growing up, I always loved sports. My parents were never ‘big’ on sports and never pushed us into them, it just kinda happened with basketball. My twin sister & I started playing at a very young age & it’s still one of our favorite past times. It gave us some really incredible role models & inspired us to do great in our lives.

My other sister, on the other hand, never played sports. During school she seemed to struggle more with her grades and with also who she is as a person. Kristy & I were always the smart, basketball twins but Amber was struggling to find her own identity.

Playing sports is one of the favorite activities of a lot of us. Besides being a fun activity, sports offer several health benefits both physically and mentally. People who play sports tend to not be as sick.

Playing sports serves as an excellent exercise, which has a wide variety of health benefits. It reduces blood sugar level and reduces the risk of blood cholesterol. Playing sports decreases the chances of hypertension and several other stress related disorders. Research has revealed that people who play sports regularly can deal with stresses and strains in life in a better manner. Depression, anxiety and other psychological disorders are less probable in people who indulge in sport activities.

Sports serve as excellent physical exercise. Those who play sports have a more positive body image than those who don’t. Playing sports often involves physical activities like running, jumping and stretching and moreover a constructive expenditure of energy. Playing sports since an early age strengthens the bones & muscles and tones the person’s body. Sports provide the body with a complete exercise.

It can also help develop better math skills. It develops leadership qualities and fosters a team spirit in them. Sports involve competition. It teaches kids how to win & lose. If taught right then they will be able to these things gracefully. This exposes the players to both the aspects of life, successes and failures. Sports build a competitive spirit in children and teach them to be participative irrespective of whether the participation concludes in a victory or a defeat. Playing sports teaches a person to accept both successes and failures in a positive spirit. The most important benefit of playing sports is the sportsman spirit or in my high school, the ‘Lion Pride’. Playing sports results in the development of a sportive nature, which is helpful throughout one’s life.

Playing sports is very beneficial for the development of social skills in a person. Sports teach a person to interact with people & act as a team. They foster collective thinking and develop planning skills in children. Sports build confidence in children and give them a sense of accomplishment therefore playing a vital role in their well-being.

Playing sports requires the children to plan thoughtfully. They need to devise the best ways to score goals, the best strategies to win and plan carefully towards victory. Statistics show that kids involved in sports activities fare well in academics and their school and college activities.

Regular exercise helps increase the overall quality of life. Playing sports acts as a beautiful blend of recreation and physical activity. It is a combination of both enjoyment and exercise.

socks4kids

I recently went to Harrison where my mother bought my daughter her first ‘big girl’ bible. It is absolutely adorable and was at a very reasonable price. While we were at ‘Christian Book Outlet’ we signed up to receive their catalogs via snail mail. Tuesday I was looking through the small catalog at all of the different videos, bibles, etc that they had for sale and on the very back page they had a snippit of information about a fundraiser they are doing. The fundraiser is called ‘socks4kids’ and it says: We’re collecting socks for area children. Please join us in this ministry by bringing children’s socks to any Christian Book Outlet or Christian Gift Outlet. The socks will be distributed to area children for Christmas. Thank you for your blessing!

After seeing  this I felt the need to pass this along to all of you. Socks come in many shapes and sizes and most are relatively inexpensive. Girls especially will love getting funky/cool socks and besides it will keep their feet warm…. Warm feet = Warm Heart.

To find a location close to you, simply go to their website: www.inspire4less.com or you can find them on Twitter or Facebook. There are many different ways to be inspirational this upcoming holiday season so let’s be overachievers! J

Bullying

When I agreed to write a blog on bullying, I was skeptical at first. I didn’t know a lot about the subject to be honest. It seems that the topic of bullying is everywhere now. I was watching the news last week about a School Board member posting a status on Facebook implying Gay people should kill themselves. This is absolutely horrible. It doesn’t matter if you find a persons beliefs wrong,  you should never, ever want someone to die!

I have 2 small children & one of my main goals is to teach them to always treat others like they would want to be treated. My daughter recently started Kindergarten and has already seen bullying. This is one of the main reasons I stopped putting her in pageants. ‘Pageant Moms’ are some of the worst bullies I have come across. Kids learn by example and so the children of these monsters start bullying at an early age. Most bullying is in the form of words, “I am prettier than you… I should’ve won… etc.”

In my opinion, parents are the number one reason why bullying exists. As a parent, it’s my job to teach my kids right from wrong. Bullying hurts everyone. Victims can have their feelings hurt or be injured by bullies. Other kids can feel sad or scared, even if they are just watching a bully pick on someone else. Kids who bully often grow up to become adult bullies.

Bullies come in all shapes and sizes and ages. Anyone can be a bully - even you. Kids usually become bullies because they are unhappy inside for some reason or don't know how to get along with other kids.

Bullying can happen to anyone. Here is a website to help with this problem: www.bullying.org
At that site there is lots more information and special support groups for victims of bullying.

STFU, Parents

“You used to be fun. Now you have a baby. If you're being driven crazy by your friends' baby updates every time you check your status feed, please feel free to contribute to this blog. stfuparentsblog@gmail.com Also on Twitter: twitter.com/STFUParents *submissions can be text, screen capture, anonymous, etc.*”

No, this is definitely NOT anything I am promoting. I recently read a friend’s post on Facebook where she had reported this Group because she felt it was ‘attacking’ parents. I agree somewhat.

Honestly, I didn’t read EVERY post on their site. I looked at a few and I gathered my conclusions from that. I thought the page was quite ridiculous. I will be the first to admit that my kids are my entire world and I will post whatever I want to about my kids whenever I want. A friend introduced me to Facebook so that we could keep in contact because she lived a few hours away and wanted to see pictures of my daughter. So now I am in contact with many, many parents and am able to watch my friends’ kids grow up. I consider myself lucky because without this I wouldn’t be able to see or hear about the daily accomplishments of my closest friends.

I can say I do agree with a few things they say on this site. I do not agree that you need to post everything on Facebook. We should have a little respect for our children & ourselves to keep certain things to ourselves. For example, the picture of the boy who accidentally went to the bathroom in his pants. Was this really necessary??? This picture will still be around when the boy is 15 and what’s going to happen when his friends find out about this? It’s cruel and should be addressed to the parents but not to everyone else on the internet. Instead of posting this on STFU, Parents on Facebook to get attention, why couldn’t this ‘concerned citizen’ discreetly send a message to the person who posted the picture explaining that this could potentially cause this child some embarrassment later in life?

There is also a post about a Soon-To-Be Mom having her baby shower at a bar. Yes this is a free country but really????!!! It makes me think about what this mom is going to really be like. Is she really ready to be a mom? What type of people will this mom have the baby around? People may think I am overprotective but there are boundaries. I like to introduce my kids to new things and different cultures but alcoholism isn’t one of them!

I am a proud mom and I love posting my kids accomplishments so they can make fun of me all they want. I believe in Constitutional Rights and Freedom of Speech. They can say what they want about us, Proud Mommies, and we can keep on giving them stuff to talk about. That’s the way the world works. No matter what someone is never happy. Are these people jealous because we have some pretty great kids or are they just looking for attention?? Not sure but what I can say is that I love my kids & am going to yell it from the top of the tallest mountain!

This is definitely my opinion and in no way am I bashing this website. I am merely stating everyone has his/her own opinions. What’s your opinion on this matter?

Fatigue

Many people suffer from fatigue... whether it be schedules are too hectic, poor eating habits, lack of exercise, or perhaps there are medical symptoms that need to be addressed. I am researching the best ways to get rid of fatigue because I am one of the many people who are looking for help in this area. Here are a few steps to getting relief.

Instructions

  1. The first thing to do is sit down and assess your priorities and rank their importance. Then make some important decisions. Too hectic a life can cause fatigue. Our bodies are not meant to live on a few hours sleep. 7-8 solid hours is preferred... This is one that is of extreme difficulty for me since my son doesn't sleep through the night all the time.
  2. Protein and complex carbohydrates are essential to any diet. If you're eating too much sugar and fat, cut down. If you need a pick-me-up in the afternoon, consider protein instead of a candy bar. Eat complete balanced meals including a good breakfast.
  3. No matter how tired you are, exercise. Exercise will improve your mood, give you energy, and help you fall into a deeper sleep, so you will feel rested in the morning. I also have a difficult time with this... It is hard to exercise with a 16 month old. I am constantly running around after him but never just go for a jog... this is something I have to work on.
  4. Sleep is important. Our bodies should receive 7-8 hours of rest a day. If you're not getting enough sleep, go back to step 1 and look at your priorities.
  5. If your fatigue is not improving after making changes in your life, consider seeing a doctor. Diabetes, depression, chronic pain as well as other medical conditions will cause fatigue and may require medication. We live hectic lives, but we need to take control and fight fatigue.

My Psychic Experience!

I was checking my email a couple days ago and noticed I had an email from a psychic named Tara. In the subject line it said “Good Fortune Coming Your Way In The Next 30 Days” so I decided to see what it said, not that I believe any of this kind of stuff but if you only knew what was going on in my life then you would definitely not blame me for taking all the optimism I can get! I will copy & paste a portion of the email:

Misty, it’s certain!
Great good fortune should enter your life sometime in the next 30 days.
Here’s why:

Misty, I want you to read this very unusual message carefully.
What I have to tell you is extremely important if
A NUMBER OF FORTUNATE EVENTS THAT ARE ALMOST MIRACULOUS, AND THAT ARE GOING TO TRANSFORM YOUR DESTINY (both emotionally and financially) are to take place.

All this may surprise you, but you should know that Luck is about to turn in your favor and enable
GREAT GOOD FORTUNE to intervene IN YOUR LIFE IN THE NEXT 30 DAYS.
Here’s why I am so sure:
Last night I had a premonitory dream about your immediate future, Misty.
I had amazing visions about fortunate events that should affect your emotional and financial life.
This year will be your year of Luck and Happiness in all the most important areas of your life.
I will reveal exactly what you need to know so that your life changes for the better after you read this message.
But first there’s something even
MORE IMPORTANT I have to talk to you about. It concerns a small part of my premonitory dream which could have serious consequences, and which really requires your complete attention.
I had a very
STRANGE SENSATION during the premonition. It was as if there was an abnormal presence around you, Misty.

A kind of negative entity was trying to exert
A HARMFUL INFLUENCE ON YOU and on your environment, in the hope of dragging you down into a spiral of negative energy.
You’ll have to be careful of any negative people around you, so that you can prevent things from getting blocked, and becoming even worse.
I can assure you that I will do everything necessary to place you under psychic protection. This is very important for you, because
SOMETHING VERY SURPRISING IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN TO YOU.
Above all, don’t take what I’m telling you lightly. You will have an extremely important decision to make very soon.
A DECISION THAT REALLY CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
Something exceptional is going to happen to you before 30 days are up, and there is
A LARGE FINANCIAL GAIN at stake that you must not miss out on.
I can’t give you any more precise information about the specific amount you will receive, but it certainly is a large sum of money that will be important to you.
My feeling tells me it is
A VERY LARGE JACKPOT. In my dream I saw you feverishly waving a game receipt, jumping for joy as the winning numbers were announced.
But there’s something that worries me a little, Misty.
I recently sent you an e-mail. I waited for news from you, but I didn’t receive any answer.
I don’t know exactly why you didn’t respond. But that’s not what is most important.
What is important is that you know that a large jackpot should soon be yours, which could solve all the financial difficulties your are having now.
I’m telling you this because I know that you’ve been having a hard time, financially speaking, and that if I don’t help you, your main problem will probably not be resolved, and could even get worse.
It makes me sad to see you in this kind of situation, Misty.
If only you had allowed me to intervene on your behalf and help you a few days ago, I’m certain your destiny could have already improved.
I know that in your situation you almost certainly think it’s too late for your life to really change overnight. I understand. But I also have to tell you that you are wrong!

THERE’S SOMETHING IMPORTANT THAT YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST BE AWARE OF, Misty.
After carefully analyzing the astral chart of your destiny, all indications are that a year of exceptional good luck is in store for you.
This is due to the unusual configuration of a number of astral planets that are particularly influential for you, in terms of luck, happiness and success.
That means that, starting on November 07 2010 a period of 3 months of profound change will begin for you, followed by another 3 months that will also be very beneficial.
That will be the perfect time for you to resolve all your problems once and for all, and to finally experience a real and profound transformation in your life.
I know for certain that during a future
ASTRAL PERIOD OF GOOD FORTUNE, you are going to meet someone who will certainly be ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE.
Misty, you can expect 3 really exceptional months as far as your finances are concerned. That will be followed by 3 more months of happiness in your personal life.
There are also a few negative points that you have to be careful about. But don’t worry – I’m here to guide you.
I will help you plan your life so that you can avoid certain obstacles that may arise, and tell you how you can create a positive and happy outcome for yourself.
I will tell you exactly what to do to make the beneficial period that is coming your way
A YEAR FILLED WITH FORTUNE AND UNHOPED-FOR EVENTS.

So I read this email and think to myself “Should I buy a lottery ticket?” Heck yes I should! What could it hurt? I spend a couple dollars and it could change my life… highly unlikely but yes I could get lucky and hit the jackpot. After I thought about winning the lottery, I immediately thought “What would I really do if I won the lottery?” I honestly would not go crazy with it. Yes I would buy a house but it would not be anything outrageous. I would buy my mom and dad new vehicles. I would want to take my sisters shopping for a few new clothes. Jadyn, Jake, Alexis, and Ethan would all get one big toy each… maybe a Power Wheels car or something. I honestly can’t think of anything else I would want than that. No diamonds, no Mercedes, no house on the beach with an indoor pool. I would finish my degree and hopefully work a job I love but no matter what I would still work. I think it’s retarded for someone who wins the lottery to completely give up on working. The odds are too great that the money is going to run out and yes I would rather save the money for a rainy day than to think it’s going to last forever and then be broke & out of a job in 5 years like many lottery winners end up. I am a single mother of 2 kids so I know I can survive on very little so even an extra $5,000 a year would be like heaven to me. A good portion of my winnings would go to helping children and families of children with cancer.

What would you do if you won the lottery? I guess we will see if November 7, 2010 will be my day to hit the jackpot like this psychic says. :)

Greater Peace

To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life – that is indeed a gift from God. People who do this rarely look with sorrow on the past, for God has given them reasons for joy.
— Ecclesiastes 5:19–20 (NLT)

I have heard of people completely altering their lives in order to achieve greater peace within. For some people this is probably a good thing but how much change is too much? Don’t get me wrong, I am definitely a firm believer in giving to those in need whether it is food to eat, a place to sleep, or simply an ear to listen to their worries but can this ever be too much?

There are certain books on changing our entire lives to live a simpler, more fulfilling lifestyle. They focus on getting rid of all of the waste, clutter, and unnecessary expenses.  Hoarding is a problem that many of us face today. We go shopping and think “Oh, this purse is on sale so I am gonna get it.” Two years and 20 other purses later, it’s still sitting in the bag it came in because it didn’t match any outfit we had at the time. This doesn’t just happen to women, it happens to men. My dad is one of the world’s worst! He buys things from people who need money and these things are either broken or Dad has no use for them so they sit collecting dust. The good part is that he is helping others but on the other hand his yard is full of junk!

Everything that does not come from faith is sin -Rom. 14:23

That means you can live a good life and be the nicest person in the world, but if you don’t live by faith in God, your good deeds don’t mean a thing. All-in-all we need to live for Jesus, not for ourselves.

I don’t mean to offend anyone. I am simply stating what I believe. I definitely want your opinions whether it be for or against what I believe.

Very First Blog

Today is my very first time ever posting a blog. I am a newbie but I am definitely going to try to keep you entertained!

I will start out by telling a snippit about me. My name is Misty and I have the 2 most amazing kids in the whole world. I know what you are thinking. You are thinking that EVERY mother says this but what you don't know is that EVERY mother is lying except me... My kids are seriously the bomb-diggity! I have never in my life seen 2 more humorous kids than Jadyn & Jake.

Jadyn is 5. She is in Kindergarten & LOVES IT! She is extremely intelligent. She is a retired undefeated beauty queen.

Jake (Also known as Jakers, Jacob, Jackson-Hewitt, Jack, and NO-NO!) turned one in June. He is going to be the next Peyton Manning. Jake loves sports and making people laugh. And he has 2 different colored eyes... definitely gonna have to watch him when he gets older!

So those are my kids in a nut-shell... Check back tomorrow when the real magic begins!
